Cape Rachado Light house

Cape Rachado(a name given by the Portuguese, meaning "Broken Cape") is located 16km south of Port Dickson town. It was originally built by the Portuguese in 1528 to guide ships to Malacca when it reigned Malacca. Many historical events are said to be taken place in the seas around Tanjung Tuan, including the fierce battle between the Portuguese and Dutch armadas in the 16th century which resulted in the sinking of four warships including the Nassau - a famous Dutch vessel. Some artefacts from the Nassau has been successfully excavated from the sea and are on display at Lukut Museum.

It is also said that there is a spot(foot print) here where the legendary 15th Century Malay warrior of the Melaka Sultanate, Hang Tuah, was supposed to have set foot. It is also believed that Parameswara, the first Sultan of Melaka was buried in this area.

Apart from its historical significance, Tanjung Tuan also boast a diverse flora and fauna including 54 species of bird in its forest reserve. It is also a strategic location for bird watchers to observe migratory birds. Flocks of migrating sparrows, honey buzzards, swifts, hawks, and eagles stop over here annually to escape from winter in the Northern region.

Wan Loong Temple

Wan Loong Temple is located along the 7th mile of the Port Dickson coastal road, just opposite the PD World Marina Resort. This Chinese temple, with its opulent architecture and imposing fortress walls, is a popular place for local & tourist (especially Singaporeans) to worship the dieties or to climb the steps of the fortress walls which surrounds the temple and resembles the great wall of China.

The temple name means 'Dragon of the Clouds', but it pays homage to several oriental deities, including Kuan Yi (goddess of mercy) and the Monkey King. Opposite is an equally ornate seafood restaurant that resembles a temple complex. Open throughout the day, the temple is free to enter as long as you do your exploration quietly.

In this temple there is a humble tortoise which suddenly came from nowhere since a few years ago has been an attraction for the worshipper from as far as Singapore. It was published in the Chinese newspaper some time ago that some worshipper had struck a fortune after praying to the dieties and the tortoise. Strangely enough, this tortoise only feed on chicken meat and no vegetable at all!
